A Fleeting Grace

There you were,
On the bench,
A seemingly common space.

There you sat,
Hands folded in your lap,
An averted gaze.

A coy smile,
Crosses your face,
Emphasizing timid butterfly you were

So beautiful,
So shy,
But so radiant.

A lovely diamond.
Bright and true.
Always.

A simple smile,
No words needed,
And the world disappears
Behind your praise.

Goodbye pain
Goodbye loneliness.
All pain erased.

A short connection,
An eye-catching glance,
You put onlookers into a daze.

Silently admiring your beauty,
Your smile,
Your seemingly everlasting grace.

But like everything else,
It was but a fleeting taste,
Nothing could replace.

But as quickly as it came,
It was gone again.

After all,
It was but a transient grace,
Doomed to disappear without a trace.
