His Decision After A Year of Silence (Not What She Expected XLV)
The silver-haired man looked up at the sky, taking a deep breath and silently calming himself. It had been an entire year since he’d last heard from Xiyana. After their last meeting, a part of him had assumed that she didn’t want to be his friend anymore. Yet, another part of him had been unwilling to give up hope.
He looked over to the camp’s main tent. He let out a breath. In all this time, he’d never managed to successfully transfer himself to her brother’s unit. Still, despite hovering among the talent units for so long, he had no regrets. In a way, he still got what he’d been waiting for.
Though the circumstances of their reunion would be slightly different from what he’d imagined, it was happening nonetheless. Pressing the paper to his chest, he smiled. Would she be the same? Did she remember all those hours they’d once shared? Would she be as willing to let him in like before?
So many questions. So many uncertainties. But it was enough. She had thought of him. She had thought of him when she needed help. She had remembered him enough to ask for him. That was enough.
Letting out a contented sigh, he folded the letter and carefully tucked it away into his coat. One day… Just one more day to sort out all that was left was to sort out… Then, even if the heavens protested, he was flying to her side. And this time, he would be there to stay.
Turning and removing his medals, he started toward the center of camp. Finally, he drew open that big white tent. Forcing himself to take a deep breath, he came face-to-face with the kind man that had watched over him all these months. The time to reveal the truth had come after all.
