A Fool
“You fool!” She shouted.
An accusation
That he couldn’t deny
For a fool he was,
Not just in her eyes
A fool indeed,
He silently acknowledged
With a sigh
But even as the fool he was,
He couldn’t deny
It was a path that he chose
The path that he chose
As a king
A path that he chose
For his people
The path that he chose
For his little rose
As the old saying goes
One man’s trash is another’s gold
Perhaps one day,
She would come to understand
The words he’d left untold
This story was inspired by a “The Beginning” writing prompt from the “Promptly Written” Publication.
“You fool,” she screamed as she marched out of the door.
