A Prank, You Called It
A prank,
You called it.
But deep inside,
You and I both know it.
You were not joking.
It was not a prank.
For if it was,
Why aren’t things the same?
Why did your actions
Stir such a change?
Summoning an unfamiliar
Miasma of awkwardness.
Robbing us of our comfort.
Eating away at our friendship.
If it was just a prank,
Why haven’t things reverted
Back to how they once were?
Before the moment
That you suddenly hollered
My name?
Before you kneeled,
Uttering a forsaken question
And making a vow,
Toward your sudden aim?
Why did you make a promise,
And then dismiss it,
With a look of shame?
Why did you try?
When you were already
Going to choose
To use an excuse
That is so lame?
