My Dearest Flame
A glow ignites the darkness
A beacon that draws me close
Like a moth to an open flame
Lighting ablaze
The unvisited crevices
Of my lonesome heart
Your welcoming warmth
Quiets my once riotous mind,
Calming the clamorous
Lurking chaos in my chest
Frightening off lurking shadows
And dispersing the horrors
That haunt my nights
Holding you tight,
You usher me forth,
Until side-by-side we stand.
Together,
Hand in hand,
You bring me joy
That I cannot fully comprehend.
But there is one thing
That you’ve made me understand.
That is:
I’ll never again
Let go of your hand
Not in a tempest.
Not when it rains.
For you are my precious flame.
