That Which is No More

A broken doll.
An empty bed.
A missing laughter.

A picture.
A captured memory.
The way things once were.

A stolen happiness.
A jar of ashes.
A person no more.

Tear stained faces.
A room of black.
A photo over the altar.

Broken families.
Broken homes.
The price of freedom.

Soaked handkerchiefs.
A final wave of goodbye,
To all the things we’ve lost,
To that which is no more.

This poem was inspired by a “Monday” daily writing prompt from the “Promptly Written” Publication.
